We LOVE art! And we LOVE to go to museums to check out expositions that are in ourfield of interest. There are not many photo expo’s or modern art events in the Dutch museums that we miss. I have a Museum Card for years now and it’s so nice that I can always go in and out for ‘free’. A few weeks back I was in Italy for illy where I saw this beautiful photo expo about coffee by Sebastiâo Salgado. Luckily there are very cool exhibits in The Netherlands this summer as well. We listed our five favourite must sees!
1 >> Swinging Sixties London >> FOAM >> Amsterdam
Ever since I’m a teenager I have a weakness for everything that has something to do with the sixties. In this photo expo in Amsterdam you can see the most beautiful photos of London in the Capitol of Cool. From fashion to street life and celebrities!
Until September 2 | More info on Foam.nl >>
2 >> Body Art >> Tropenmuseum >> Amsterdam
Tattoos and all other forms of body art are hotter than ever these days. This exhibit at the Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam shows body art from all over the world. From early ages to modern day tattoos and piercings. Pretty impressive!
Until August 30 | More info on Tropenmuseum.nl
3 >> The Oasis of Matisse >> Stedelijk Museum >> Amsterdam
Discover the colourful artworks of Matisse at this largest expo ever in The Netherlands. Over 100 artworks of this great master. We love his use of different materials and the bright colours. From fabrics to paper installations. Very beautiful!
Until August 16 | More info on Stedelijk.nl
4 >> Anton Corbijn >> Fotomuseum >> Den Haag
One of the best photographers of this time. If not the best. Did you know Anton Corbijn grew up in Zeeland just like me? I LOVE his photos of all the celebrities. I think he photographed all my heroes. This picture of Nirvana reminds me of my teenage years! If you want to see this expo, hurry up. Only one week left!

4 >> Design Derby >> Boijmans van Beuningen >> Rotterdam
This expo is for design loves! An overview expo of 200 years of design in The Netherlands and Belgium. Objects from posters to silver and from cars to fashion. Is Dutch design different than that from our neighbours? We will definitely use this expo as an excuse to go to Rotterdam for a day!
From June 20 – September 13 | Boijmans.nl
5 >> Cor Jaring >> Huis Marseille & Stadsarchief >> Amsterdam
Who doesn’t know the legendary picture of John Lennon and Yoko Ono in bed at the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel? You can now admire the picture along with many other pictures of Cor Jaring in real life at Stadsarchief where they now are having the expo “Magisch Centrum Amsterdam”. For a Cor Jaring expo in a more intimate setting you can go to “COR WAS HIER” at the Huis Marseille. The collection there is put together by good friend and photographer Sander Troelstra, who selected not only known classic photographs of Cor Jaring but also some unseen ones. There are also some pictures of Cor Jaring there that are taken by Sander Troelsta himself.
