5 x nice spots for beer and cheese in Amsterdam

11 March 2016

Order delicious beer and cheese pairings in these bars!

Nothing better than drinking beer with friends and snacking your way through the weekend. My favourite bite to go with a beer is cheese. Unfortunately this combo isn’t available in every bar in Amsterdam. So after visiting a lot of beer cafés in Amsterdam I thought it was time to make a list with nice places that do serve beer and cheese pairings.  You can order all the combination listed below when you go there for a drink!

dopey's elixer

Dopey’s Elixer >> Beer & cheese in Amsterdam >>

Dopey’s Elixer is one of the oldest pubs in The Pijp. If you visit this place, you definitely need to try Weihenstephan Hefeweizen. This wheat beer is brewed in the oldest brewery in the world. It contains a lot of carbonic and has a mild flavor. Besides you will slightly taste vanilla, banana and clove. This perfect beer needs, of course,  the perfect snack! Therefore, also order goat cheese or feta if you try a Weihenstephan Hefeweizen!

This cosy pub has a large choice of foreign beers. Our favorite is the St. Bernardus Abt 12. This tasty beer has an aromatic still rich flavor. It’s difficult to find a cheese which can cope with this beer. But they exist! For example blue cheeses like Roquefort and Bleu d’Auvergne. Thanks to their rich and spicy flavor, they make the perfect snack to this Belgium beer.

Are you a fan of Parmesan and Cheddar? If so, you have to visit Restaurant Radijs! They serve the perfect beer to these cheeses: Anderson Valley Heelch o’ Hops. This beer has a fantastic bitter flavor but its subtle tastes of mango and pepper is what makes it truly special. Yum!

tap zuid

Tap Zuid >> Beer & cheese in Amsterdam >>

The Brooklyn Lager is thé perfect beer to combine with Gruyere and Emmental. Its lovely fruity flavor goes great with this nutty cheeses. This beer is recommended if you’re taking a breather on the terrace of Tap Zuid. Because of its soft flavors, it’s an easy drinking beer. Be aware! :-)

Taproom >> Beer & Cheese in Amsterdam >>

Amsterdam has a large rise of independent beer brewers. The Saison is one of the beers that has a great position in this crowded beer market. Its unique bitter flavor is thé feature for these beers. If you’re at Taproom, you have to try the Oedipus Mannenliefde together with a plate of creamy blue cheese like Munster or Kernhem.

Cheers!
