Mercados in Valencia are a fantastic place to visit on your next city break! They're the typical Spanish food markets that we Dutch people love so much. Shop for fresh fruit and vegetables alongside the locals, pick up a piece of meat or fish, and stock up on spices. It's a real treat to visit the mercado and see so much fresh, homemade food! Valencia there are several markets you can visit.
Central Market is the largest indoor market in Europe! You will find the market in the old center Valencia. And believe me: you can wander around here for hours. There's so much delicious food, to see, and to taste! Be sure to try the Spanish ham and Manchego cheese; Valencian specialties. And pick up some oranges from Mercado Central; Valencia is famous for its oranges!
In Valencia's Eixample district, you'll find Mercado Colon, where the fish market takes place every morning. It's a bit smaller than Mercado Central, but just as fun! In the afternoon, all the trendy restaurants at Mercado Colon open, where you can enjoy lunch, coffee, and all sorts of pastries.

Mercado de Ruzafa is located in the artistic Ruzafa neighborhood. You can go there for your daily dose of fruits and vegetables. This market is less touristy than Mercado Central, making it ideal for a leisurely shopping spree.
There are even more mercados in Valencia that I'd love to visit next time. Are you as crazy about mercados as I am?
