2 Days in the West Village, NYC! Eat, Sleep, Drink, Repeat

The best places to eat, drink, sleep and shop in the West Village

We're so looking forward to our first night in one of the MySuites suites tonight! I've walked this stretch of Christopher Street so many times. These last few months, I've always thought how cool it must be to live here. And now, even if it's only for two nights, we can call the West Village home!

Day 1: Check-in at MySuites

After checking into our modern and charming apartment, we bought a nice bottle of wine across the street at Waverly Place. We toasted our last two fantastic days in "our" awesome apartment in the most beautiful city in the world. Read the blog about MySuites here.

Pre-dinner drinks

Dinner can wait. We'll first enjoy a few beers at the cozy locals' bar. Wilfie & Nell which is literally around the corner.

After this we eat a delicious meal and sit very pleasantly at the always busy Jeffrey's GrocerySimple, but good food.

Other nice places nearby are:
GottinoThey have a few tables, but it's the long bar where you'll want to sit. Intimate atmosphere. Lots of small dishes to share.
Red Farm: Amazian-style dishes (a self-invented term for a-ma-zing Asian-style food). Cool interior. Long wait time.

Get into the Groove

Is it Thursday night? Ready for some old-fashioned, all-night table dancing? What? Like you've never done that. Forgotten how good it felt, perhaps. The Jane is where it's at. If you like 80s, 90s, and top 40 music, you'll have a great time.Read Anne's blog about The Jane here).

Day 2: A full schedule of hotspotting

Breakfast and coffee

After waking up wonderfully in your lovely New York bed, you go straight to Whynot CoffeeIt's only a few minutes' walk. And you'll want this. This is one of NYC's finest coffee shops.

Is it the weekend? Then go for brunch at Joseph Leonard (You can view the blog about Joseph Leonard here).

Stop. Shopping time.

Close by again, as in practically around the corner PERSONNEL of New YorkDon't miss this. Awesome store.

After that, walk to the lovely shops on Bleecker Street. Aesop, Marc Jacobs, Reiss. There's a lot of great stuff here. The shops are fantastic, but it's the atmosphere and ambiance of the neighborhood that are unbeatable.

Have some time to spare? Wander around a bit. The charming little streets and cute townhouses with million-dollar style (literally) offer stunning views. Head to Perry Street. This is where Carrie (Sex and the City) lived.

Lunch breaks

Need a break? Take your moment on 4th Street at Cafe MinervaThey also have wifi.

Tea salons are hot in New York. Go to Press Tea For a delicious freshly squeezed tea or tea latte. And the sweet treats are quite tasty too. Wi-Fi is available here too.
Prefer a refreshing refreshment? Try the Salty Pimp at Big Gay Ice Cream.

Dinner New York Style

I have some nice suggestions for your evening dinner:
We are fans of Aria Winebar. Keep in mind that you may have to wait, but the price-quality ratio of this tent is excellent.

Bell, Book and Candle has a fun "secret room." Not really for two people, but if there are four or five of you, check if there's still room! Ask about the "Naked Lady Room."

After-dinner drinks

Dark and intimate bar The Other Room It's also in the West Village. And after all, we all look fabulous in dim lighting.
Another funky bar is the maritime-style gay-friendly Rusty Knot.

You really want to go to a cocktail bar? You're in New York, after all. Then go to:
Employees OnlyA secret cocktail bar on Hudson Street. It's called "secret." You can tell from a mile away that something's going on here, judging by the people standing outside.
Or speakeasy bar little branchThis is what you call a "hidden" bar. Look for a door on a corner between two streets.

The cool coffee bar you were at this morning, as I advised (and if you were smart, you'd take that advice) also has a small jazz club downstairs. It recently opened, so it's always a good idea to check it out. Otherwise, you can have wine upstairs.

After our last drink, we finally had to call it a day and continue our way to our super-cool LA Suite for the last time. Our last night in the Village…
So much to do, so little time. What a fantastic city this is...

Some practical information and tips

Tip 1: How do you get here from JFK Airport? Take a taxi, and it'll easily take you an hour and at least $100. If you take the A train (blue line) from JFK to West 4th Street, it'll take 30 minutes and $7,50. From there, it's a 5-10 minute walk to the LA Suite.
By the way, the apartment at 82 Christopher Street is literally a 30 second walk from the subway (the 1, red line).

Tip 2: Download the NYC Subway app. Viewing the subway lines anywhere and anytime won't use your data and will make your life a lot easier. Trust me.

Tip 3: Download the HopStop app. This app tells you exactly which train, bus, or metro you need to take to get from A to B.

Tip 4: If you can't use Google Maps (due to your data limit), download the offline maps of New York from the CityMaps2Go app for New York.
