Deze zomer ben ik lekker twee weken in Zeeland! Daarom vond ik het tijd worden om de leukste en beste strandtenten van Zeeland op een rij te zetten. Stuk voor stuk adressen waar het goed toeven is met een Zeeuws biertje in de hand. Of een flesje bubbels om het mooie weer te vieren. Van culinair met au fruit de mer tot de altijd goede bitterbal (die in Zeeland deze zomer met wakame of kreeft op de kaart staat) en kindermenu’s. In dit nieuwe lijstje heb ik mijn persoonlijke favorieten op een rij gezet en die aangevuld met de beste strandtenten in Zeeland volgens alle horeca-ondernemers die ik heb gesproken. Ice cream date, anyone?
One of the newest openings at Amstel1 is De Boule De Boule, an ice cream and pastry parlour just behind Waterlooplein. After trying it, I can confirm: the ice cream is really, really good.
𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗩𝗜𝗕𝗘
After seeing their Instagram, you might think of places like Folderol in Paris, the spot that became famous for pairing ice cream with wine.
But De Boule De Boule feels different. Less destination wine bar, more day-time neighbourhood café where you can stop by for homemade ice cream, a pastry, coffee and, yes, a glass of wine.
Inside you’ll find shelves filled with vinyl records, a display of freshly made ice cream and homemade pastries crafted by two in-house pastry chefs.
𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗥𝗢𝗪𝗗
Amstel1 is still being discovered by Amsterdam and it was a little quiet during our visit. I expect the vibe to only get better as more shops open and people find their way here. I’m especially curious to see how it feels this weekend with the market taking over the area for the first full weekend. This covered location with a courtyard feel is incredibly promising.
𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗪𝗘 𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗗
• Olive oil & basil ice cream with sea salt
• Chocolate ice cream with hazelnut topping
• Paired with a glass of Chardonnay and an orange wine.
All of the ice cream is made in-house and completely vegan. If nobody had told me, I honestly wouldn’t have guessed.
𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘 𝗕𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗞 𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗦 𝗜𝗧
The ice cream is excellent, but what makes De Boule De Boule interesting is that it’s more than an ice cream shop. It’s a place for coffee, pastries, a glass of wine or drinks after a performance at the Stopera.
And yes, I’m already planning to go back to try more flavours, but next time in the evening for a dessert after dinner elsewhere. Just to see how the space changes throughout the day. What I would order then? Very curious about the White Coffee ice-cream!

Hello June!
The first weekend of the month is looking very good if you ask me. Think wine festivals, vintage markets, oysters, live jazz, street art and a ridiculous amount of new restaurants to put on your radar.
This weekend I’m especially excited about Bacchus Wine Festival in the Amsterdamse Bos, Sunday Market at Westergas, the oysters & brocante afternoon at Le French Café and Red Light Jazz taking over hidden venues across the city centre.
Also fun: STRAAT Museum is hosting its first Women in Street Art Weekend at the NDSM-werf, Fort Negen is bringing back its cult-favourite pizza pop-up for two nights only, and if you’re heading to Noord anyway, it’s your last chance to cycle through Amsterdam’s Oatly Bike Thru before it disappears on June 7.
And for those always looking for new places to try: The Jollof Club, Café de Vos, Bar How and the terrace of Monne (right on the Amstel!), are all brand new and worth knowing about.

From the IJ-Hallen and Pure Markt in Park Frankendael to the Sunday Market at Rokin and treasure hunting at the Amstelveld Antiques Market.
And in Noord you’ll want to stay all day, because Stripfest is taking over the Hamerkwartier with food, music, workshops and parties at spots like FC Hyena, Skatecafé and Oedipus.
Also very into the sound of the new Zuiver Bar & Nai!! Sake Bar, Meneer van Galen and Bonburger Noord.
And yes… if you’re heading to Noord anyway, make sure to cycle past the @oatly Bike Thru for an iced matcha, specialty coffee or that viral soft serve at the Papaverhoek.

Life lately.
Soms heb ik van die momenten waarop ik even stilsta bij hoe bijzonder dit allemaal eigenlijk is.
Dat ik ruim 14 jaar geleden begon met een blog waarop ik gewoon mijn favoriete adressen wilde delen. Dat Your Little Black Book inmiddels zoveel mensen inspireert om nieuwe plekken te ontdekken. En dat ik nog steeds nieuwe bestemmingen mag verkennen, zoals deze maand Taiwan.
Wat ik misschien nog wel het leukste vind? Dat jullie overal met me mee naartoe gaan. Naar nieuwe restaurants, hotels, steden en landen. Maar ook naar de meer persoonlijke momenten tussendoor.
De lieve berichten die ik dagelijks krijg, de tips die jullie terugsturen, de plekken die jullie ontdekken via de guides. Het blijft bijzonder om te zien hoeveel mensen al jaren onderdeel zijn van deze community.

Another long weekend and honestly… Amsterdam is really showing off right now.
This Pinkster weekend is packed with festivals, food markets, and summer events all over the city. Think Asian street food at Art of Taste on Museumplein, four days of Lepeltje Lepeltje at the NDSM-werf, and so much more.
Also on my mom radar this weekend: family festival GOLD at the Amsterdamse Bostheater, Ridderweekend at Muiderslot, and Pinksterweekend at Jeugdland Amsterdam.

Zo van de airport door naar dit zaakje om soup dumplings en zó veel meer te proeven! Dat is wat ik noem een soft landing 😉 <3
In Taipei ga je naar een Soy Milk Shop voor ontbijt. Warme soy milk die je eet in een bowl en stoommandjes met de lekkerste dumplings en baozi’s. Je kunt mij echt wakker maken voor dit soort ontbijtjes. Deze lokale ontbijttentjes komen in alle soorten en maten, van Michelin-recommended adressen tot hole-in-the-wall-kraampjes.
De meeste soy milk shops zijn al vroeg (en soms zelfs 24 uur per dag) open en dit zijn de gerechten die je wilt proeven:

🥢 Soup dumplings (je kunt vaak kiezen tussen pork en veggies)
🥢 Pork baozi
🥢 Youtiao (油條 - een soort fried donut stick)

TIP: delen is een goed idee om zoveel mogelijk te proeven, want de porties zijn (vaak) groot.

De beste strandtenten in Zeeland die je wilt kennen
De DAM (Vrouwenpolder): Zelf kom ik graag op het strand bij Vrouwenpolder. Het is uitgestrekt en toch vaak iets minder druk. Wat eten en drinken doe je het hele jaar door bij De DAM. Kunnen de kids lekker uitrazen bij het piratenschip op het strand terwijl jij van je biertje nipt.

BomBaai Strandbar (Westkapelle): Wat een leuke aanwinst voor Walcheren is deze nieuwe beach hotspot. Afgelopen weken heb ik deze spot uitgebreid getest. Bestel lekker een flesje cava en verschillende hapjes om te delen. De scheermessen en de wakame bitterballen zijn een must try!
Bom Baai, Westkapelle
De Oase (Domburg): Twijfel je over het weer? Check dan van te voren even de webcam die de Oase in Domburg heeft hangen. Deze strandtent is niet nieuw, maar heeft wel een hele leuke make-over gekregen. Een fijn zonnig terras, maar ook binnen in het hippe interieur zit je heerlijk tijdens de koudere dagen.

Beachhouse 25 (Breskens): Overdag is het bij deze fijne beach club heerlijk loungen met de hele familie. ’s Avonds gaat de muziek een tandje harder en draait er vaak een DJ. Het interieur doet je even wegdromen bij Ibiza en de menukaart staat vol met lekkere tapas.

Zeecafé (Oostkapelle): Deze strandtent is niet groot, maar wel eentje om niet te missen. Geen traditionele strandtent, maar een zeecontainer op het strand. Op de warme zomeravonden worden de stoelen, tafels en parasollen gewoon op het strand gezet en zit je écht met de voeten in het zand terwijl je iets van de Braai eet die ze soms aansteken.

Strandhuys de Vrijbuyter (Groede): Zoals de naam misschien al doet vermoeden gaat het er bij deze strandtent in Zeeland heel relaxed aan toe. De menukaart is precies zoals je hem bij een strandtent zou verwachten. Poffertjes en pannenkoeken voor de kids, kipsaté, burgers, scampi’s of een surf&turf voor jou. Ook een leuk adres om later op de avond heen te gaan voor een cocktail onder de festivallampjes.

Brooklyn Beach (Domburg): Deze stoere strandtent met een industrieel randje in Zeeland is te vinden net buiten Domburg als je richting Westkapelle rijdt. Het hele jaar geopend van ontbijt tot diner. Hier geen poespas of chic-doenerij. Gewoon lekker beachy comfort food of mosselen met uitzicht op zee. Fingers crossed dat je er net bent als ze één van hun bbq-avonden hebben!

Moio Beach (Cadzand Bad): Strandtenten die het hele jaar open zijn. Ik houd ervan! Heb je zin in een sportieve dag? Check dan of ze bij Moio nog iets op de agenda hebben staan. Maar gewoon aanschuiven in het mooie interieur of op het terras voor een relaxte en ontspannen middag kan natuurlijk ook. Hier wordt gekookt met de seizoenen en de gerechten overstijgen by far de gemiddelde strandtent. Onthouden dus als je zin hebt in een culinaire avond met uitzicht op zee.

Strandclub Zee (Scharendijke): Zoals je in de headerfoto van dit artikel over de beste strandtenten in Zeeland kunt zien, staat deze beach club bij hoog water helemaal onder water. Maar goed dus dat hij hoog op palen staat. Het grote terras van Aan Zee is heerlijk ruim, maar staat er een hardere wind? Probeer dan een plekje te veroveren direct rechts op het terras waar je binnenkomt. Je kunt er heerlijk en uitgebreid eten, maar ook bijvoorbeeld een flammküchen bestellen bij de borrel. Het strand bij de Brouwersdam is heel populair bij kitesurfers, dus het uitzicht gaat je niet snel vervelen.
Strandclub Zee, Scharendijke
Loods Tien (Breskens): Vanaf het terras van Loods Tien heb je uitzicht op de skyline van Vlissingen bij helder weer. Sowieso is het uitzicht hier nooit saai, want de vaargeul voor de containerschepen loopt vlak langs de kust. Loods Tien heeft een fijn licht interieur en is een leuke spot als je typisch beach food wilt eten of gewoon uitgebreid wilt borrelen. Ga dan voor de happa’s!

Beachclub Perry’s (Scharendijke): Deze beachclub ligt aan het Noordzeestrand bij de Brouwersdam. Ook goed te bereiken vanuit de randstad (Rotterdam!). Tijdens onze laatste staycation konden we nog net een plekje krijgen op het fijne terras. Wil je hier de hele dag gaan relaxen? Reserveer dan een plekje op de rooftop. Perry’s is ook een aanrader voor een dagje strand, want voor de beachclub verhuren ze strandbedjes en windschermen.
