From Los Angeles to Portland and from Austin to Miami
It’s on my mind for months… Roadtrip, roadtrip, ROADTRIP. With over 100 blogs inour New York city guide it’s time to explore the rest of the USA. And like a real city girl almost every city in North America is on my #bucketlist. A road trip on the West Coast of the US of A it is. A trip where you can’t see another burger after 3 weeks and the only thing you can think of is a healthy quinoa salad when driving in your Mustang cabrio. The ultimate wanderlust feeling checking out all the cities that are on our bucket list. I can imagine you also want to see more after New York?

The last time I was in Los Angeles I still had size 26 and I was wearing a Levi’s 501. Indeed… a very long time ago! Maybe you did it when you was a teenager… a road trip with your parents on the West Coast. So cool! And I can’t wait to go back after 17 years. Los Angeles is hot! Sleeping at the ACE Hotel, hanging out at the beach of Santa Barbara, getting a tattoo at Dr. Woo and drinking coffee at the Verve Coffee Roasters.

When I talked about Texas and Austin as to place to be 5 years ago everyone thought I was crazy. And with the growing popularity of the SXSW festival in Austin this city is now more popular than ever. It seems like ages since I lived there to study. Last year I was there on holiday to visit the SXSW festival and one of my friends. And trust me… Austin is cool! Great bars, restaurants and craft beers and cocktails everywhere. Book your room at the trendy Hotel San José!
This is how you get there: I never spotted real cheap tickets to Austin… tickets from € 848,-. Tip: fly to Dallas or Houston and make a mini roadtrip to Austin. Much cheaper!

10 years ago I didn’t hear people raving about Miami. It was always so so and never a full YES! I have the feeling that changed though… beside the plastic fantastic, beaches, huge clubs and the art deco district I hear people about a totally new scene that’s coming up. Sleep in the Thompson hotel and enjoy dinner at La Savina with views over the Miami skyline. Miami… we can’t wait to check you out!

Everyone I know who has been in Chicago is in love with the food there. And when there’s good food, I’m in! Beside the fact that Chicago is known for its architecture I’m curious about this city which is famous for the house scene there. This year it’s 25 years ago the house scene originated there and therefore it feels like the perfect timing for a tribute. I’m going there this October to check it all out for you!

You hate it or you love it. And I think that I’m a lover! When the ACE hotel opened the doors in Portland and that was the start of the hip revolution. Coole coffee baars, great restaurants, beautiful concept stores. Portland is on the map. The New York of the West is Portland’s nickname. This city is def. on my bucket list for my upcoming roadtrip :-).
