travel tips new york for a carefree city trip!
How do you prepare yourself before you go on a city trip? When you travel a lot you pretty much know what to keep in mind, what to pack and what you need to know. But if you don’t travel that often, you don’t want to get stuck either! Don’t tell anyone, but I almost missed my flight once because I forgot about the time difference. Oops! That’s why we collected some handy tips in this blog for you so your city trip to New York will be carefree. Check this blog with 5 x good to know before you go to New York!
time difference in new york >>
Always good to check: is there a time difference with The Netherlands and how much is it? Does the time travel forward or are you going back in time? Nothing more disappointing to be ready to Skype with The Netherlands and to find out that they are already asleep ;-) You go 6 hours back in time when you are in New York compared to Amsterdam. So when you arrive, your day is 6 hours longer! Nice for when you’re ready to discover the city.
the weather in new york >> travel tips new york >>
A couple of days before I travel I persistently check the weather forecast! Is the sun shining, does it stay dry, does it get cold? Summertime and fall are usually pretty warm in New York, even in October we still walked around in a T-shirt. But as soon as the weather changes it can get really wet or very windy. So besides taking a jeans, tough boots, shirts, vests and a jack I always put a small umbrella and a big scarf in my suitcase! Better safe than sorry!
Public transportation >>>
Travelling around New York becomes a lot easier when taking the metro! Are you gonna stay in one neighbourhood a day, then I rather walk around. But if you want to explore more and go from neighbourhood to neighbourhood the metro is the quickest way to travel. One ride costs about 2,5 dollar but if you want to take the metro more often, you are better off with a metro pass! Or go from door to door and take one of the happy looking yellow cabs in New York.
New York City Pass >> travel tips new york >>
Something you have to get yourself as soon as you arrive is the New York City Pass! With this pass you will get entry to at least 80 different attractions in New York like the Empire State Building, different museums, the Statue of Liberty and tours. Extra nice: with this pass you can skip the long waiting lines because you can join in the priority lane! The pass costs $ 114,- and saves you 42% on the regular ticket prices of the attractions.
