daydream to thailand in these Thai restaurants in Amsterdam

Are you also such a fan of Thai food? It”s a good thing that you don’t need to travel to Asia because there are plenty of great Thai restaurants in Amsterdam. And to be fair: most Thai places are not hip and trendy, but the food is amazing! My favourite dish is Pad Thai, a stir fried rice noodle dish which is very tasty with chicken. The Tom Yam Koeng is also delicious, this is a spicy soup with shrimps. Craving for Thai now? We selected the 6 Thai restaurants in Amsterdam for your Thai appetite :-)

Thaise restaurants in Amsterdam

Thai Deum: The restaurant looks simpel but the food is really amazing! One of the specialities of the house are the shrimps in red curry sauce. Don’t forget to order spring rolls as a starter! Book a table or come early because you won’t be the only one who is crazy about this restaurant. To take away is of course also an option.

Golden Brown Bar: This spot looks like a trendy eating café…and it is! The only difference is that they don’t serve regular café food but Thai dishes. The Golden Brown is already populair among the people living in Amsterdam West. So if your looking for a good Thai in West, go to the Golden Brown Bar!

Boi BoiBoi Boi is close to the Artis zoo in Amsterdam East. At Boi Boi they serve a daily menu for only 10 euros. Perfect if you don’t feel like cooking but you are craving for Thai food! This place doesn’t serve authentic Thai food but Thai food in a bit of modern style.

Thaicoon: This one might not have the coziest interior, but oh my it’s so good! They also deliver to your home and of course you can order to go. The portions are rather big so it’s not unusual to ask for a doggy bag after your dinner here ;-).

BangkokBangkok is a Thai restaurant at the Reguliersdwarsstraat and pretty well known in Amsterdam. The herbs are delivered straight from Thailand every week and new fresh products are coming in every day. Try one of the spicy curry’s, yummm!

Soi74This hip Thai café is fine for a take away order, but inside if very nice to sit as well. It has a cozy, warm interior and the food here is delicious. What is fun about this place is that it’s also a spot for just a drink. Every Friday afternoon they have G&T’s for a nice price!

Bird in Amsterdam

Bird: Bird started as as walk in restaurant. It soon developed as a huge restaurant which is almost always full. There are a lot of vegetarian dishes on the menu and the kitchen works with fresh new vegetables every day. Tip: if you get take away you will receive 10 % discount! You can do this at the ‘snackbar’ right across the restaurant.

Chutima’s Thai Food House: Okay, to be completely fair… you really have to order to go here. The interior is not really cozy but the food, oh my! The currys and the soups are my recommendations and it really tastes like authentic Thai food.

Ocha: Close to the Nieuwmarkt you can find a side street with a very tiny Thai restaurant: Ocha. This place just serves really good Thai food. These two Thai lady’s work their magic in the kitchen to create delicious Thai dishes, a must try!
