Sunday 7: Tedje Fliers of Coffee Concepts

21 December 2014

7 questions to Tedje Fliers, founder of Coffee Concepts!

Stories from cool Amsterdam locals about their Amsterdam. That’s Sunday 7 at Your Little Black Book. In today’s Sunday 7 we interview Tedje Fliers. A 20-something who started her own business this year to do what she loves most. Being an entrepreneur! Together with two friends she started Coffee Concepts. A coffee bar slash gallery slash marketing- and communication agency in Amsterdam Old South.

Perfect Sunday!

“I start the day with yoga and after that I’m hopping from spot to spot at De Pijp. First stop is Bakers and Roasters, after that coffee and many cigarettes at the Wasserette and then food and drinks at Mem’s.”

The Albert Cuyp Market…

“A few weeks I woke up and thought; how is it possible that De Pijp is so cool, hip and upcoming while the heart of all this, the famous and historic Albert Cuyp is sooo old fashioned. These entrepreneurs are really Stuck-in-a-Rut. The synthetic clothes they sell are hideous and the small amount of people that still goes there is all but fun. How cool would it be if local and young entrepreneurs became part of the Cuyp. Small pop-up market stalls of new indie fashion brands, coffee carts, organic food and life performances of artists. I totally see this and can talk about these opportunities for hours…”

Nom, nom, nom!

1. Asian: Woo Bros. Asian-persuasion it is! I love everything on the menu!
2. Meat: Cannibale Royale. One of the best late night dining spots in Amsterdam. It’s all delicious. Even the salad is comfort food.
3. Top of the bill: Daalder at the Lindengracht. Don’t let the brown café interior design fool you. Johannes van Dam gave Daalder a 9-, I give them a 9+.

Weekend drinks…

“The location doesn’t really matter, with friends I always drink one (or more) Skinny-Bitch(es), vodka with Pellegrino and lemon.”

Shopping spree

“At Miuse in the Gerard Doustraat. Two awesome sisters opened this store with cool brands they spotted abroad. They also launched their own sweater collection, I want them all!”

Best overseas EAT!

“The Japanese restaurant Maru Kaiseki in Bangkok. Every Tuesday and Friday they fly in fresh fish from Japan (no joke!) and all the Bangkok Thai stand in line for a bite. The sushi is incredibly good. If you ever get the chance to go here… do so! Try the Uni there, it’s sea urchin and a real delicatessen.”

Bucket-list material…

“I would love to do something completely out of my comfort zone…. like Expedition Robinson for non famous peeps.”

Tedje, thanks for sharing your Amsterdam favourites! We’ll join you on that Expedition Robinson adventure! ;-).
