Café Panache is located in an old market stores, around the corner of the Ten Kate market. A beautiful big hotspot, with an urban chic interior. It’s all about shared dining here and nice to know: the food is prepared with products from the market!

Asian hotspot Happyhappyjoyjoy is there to meet our needs for Dim Sum! On the menu you namely find Asian street food, YUM! In terms of decor, the colour red dominates. The Asian posters on the wall as well as the geisha umbrellas on the ceiling make you feel like you are at a Asian street market.

Within walking distance of the Noordermarkt, you find the Italian restaurant Koevoet. A brown cafe, furnished to the 40s style. Here you can enjoy classic Italian cuisine. No pizzas on the menu but delicious anti-pasti, fish and meat dishes.

LaStage

If you just can not get enough of French cuisine, Lastage is a must visit. This restaurant around the corner of the Red Light District serves dishes from classic French cuisine. The menu consists of 12 dishes and you can create your own menu. Just tell the waiter in which order you would like to receive the dishes and if you like to order them as a starter or as a main dish. They’ll do the rest.

Vergulden Eenhoorn

In Amsterdam East an old farm is transformed into a restaurant and bar where it feels like you are far away from the bustle of the city. At Vergulden Eenhoorn they serve local food such as roasted chicken thigh with crayfish, spring onion and curry mayonnaise. Or fried mackerel with fennel salad, kohlrabi and anchovy mayonnaise. Yummy!

A great place for meat lovers! The Roast Room consists of a lower floor (with a basic card) and upper floor (for fine dining). But in both Rotisserie as The Roast Bar you order delicious steaks, fresh from the butcher shop! The butcher is located in the middle of The Roast Bar on the ground floor.

Favourite because they serve a very nice surf and turf menu: not with just a lobster and tournedos but with a Venus or Adonis steak with Black Tiger prawns or a grilled “Langoest” (lobster) tale. But also favourite because of how it looks. Classic with a modern touch.

Both for meat and fish lovers Salmuera is a great spot to go to. This restaurant in Amsterdam with Argentine cuisine (with a modern twist) namely serves meat dishes from the grill, but here they also have a ceviche bar! Go here for a nice evening sipping cocktails at the bar and order their bar bite or ask for a table at the restaurant area.

In the lounge of &Moshik you eat street food (we like!). But, go to their restaurant area if you want to enjoy real culinary treats. At the restaurant, where Chef Moshik is your chef, you can enjoy great food. Cooked on 2-star level. Absolute must try: the tomato burger!

Restaurant Rijsel is located in an old school and serves French cuisine. Affordable and delicious! Every night they are fully booked and that’s not something that surprise us: here it’s all about pure and authentic food. Reservation required!

Hotel de Goudfazant is a favourite restaurant in Amsterdam North. Located in an old garage, this hotspot has the industrial look that you expect in the North. Here they cook French dishes and you can expect several classics. If I only lived in Amsterdam North, I would come here every day.

Mr Porter, thé restaurant at W Hotel, is a steak restaurant. Here they serve outstanding culinary creations and especially meat lover will go home happy. Although they also serve great veggie starters or starters with seafood. All to share. And don’t forget to drink a cocktail at the bar first.

Let’s be honest: close to Central Station, you don’t find many good restaurant. But one that you should know is Choux! For pure flavours, local ingredients and delicious meals. The menu changes regularly, always nice, and the menu consists of menus 3, 4 or 7-course.

Wilde Zwijnen

Wilde Zwijnen in Amsterdam East is one of our favourites since day one. They serve great seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes. The wooden tables with old school chairs, lots of white and industrial elements gives the place a nice, cozy atmosphere. Also nice: their little brother Eetbar Wilde Zwijnen next door!

The Duchess

Also to be found at the W Hotel: The Duchess! In terms of look and feel just a bit fancier than Mr Porter. Thanks to the original ornaments, high ceilings, gold and marble. Here you order dishes of Italian / French cuisine that you can share. Not very cheap, but very tasty!

Volt

Great spot: gastro bar Volt on the Ferdinand Bol. A popular spot every night of the week and reservations are recommended. With good reason, because the food is very good and there are several (special) beers and G & T’s on the menu. Extra nice: the menu with organic dishes changes regularly!

MOS

Have dinner with a view over the IJ at Mos. This renovated spot looks beautiful: high ceilings and as many as three floors plus a large bar on the bottom floor. And fun: the interior is inspired by elements from Paris and Marrakech. That piece of Paris you can also find on the French menu. With dishes like ceviche of sea bass, anchovy paella and chicken.

Café Modern is a place where you feel at home. This restaurant in the Van der Pek neighbourhood is located in an old bank building. But the vintage design makes this a very charming spot. What they serve is a surprise, because they use the table d’hôte concept. And do not forget: Café Modern transforms during the day to lunch and brunch spot Jacques Jour!

In the middle of the Red Light District you’ll find Blauw aan de Wal. A restaurant in an old warehouse. Looking for a must visit restaurant in De Pijp? Go to Sinne at the Ceintuurbaan! This one star Michelin restaurant serves classic French / Mediterranean food for a surprisingly good price. In terms of look and feel this is a neighbourhood restaurant (love it), with a star kitchen.

With this gem, we complete this list with must visit restaurants in Amsterdam. Not that long ago, Café de Klepel transformed from a brown bar into a restaurant. Here they work with a table d’hôte concept which means that you can expect a daily changing menu. Also a nice place to walk in for a glass of wine with a charcuterie or some cheese.
