Mississippi Bar Kitchen Amsterdam: for American soulfood in East

22 November 2017

from mud cake to crocodile burgers at mississippi bar kitchen amsterdam

YES! Last week Mississippi Bar Kitchen Amsterdam opened at the cozy Beukenplein in East. At this restaurant you can go for food inspired by the food culture of the Southern States in the USA, on the banks of the Mississippi. The American walhalla is open daily from 4 PM to 1 AM and on Fridays and Saturdays even till 3 AM. Time for drinks! We can’t wait to visit this new hotspot ;-)

In terms of food you can count on Southern comfort food. From quesadillas with sweet potato and feta cheese or with pulled beef and quacamole, daily changing sliders to charcoal grilled salmon with pumpkin mash, snow crab steampot and sticky coca-cola BBQ pork ribs, to name a few.

They even have a crocodile burger. The meat for this is obtained via a game importer from Zimbabwe. According to the owners of Mississippi Amsterdam, the meat is otherwise thrown away, because the crocodiles are actually bred for the leather, and that’s why the meat is sustainable ;-). They also have American specialty beers, such as the Californian IPA, Lagunitas. For dessert you need to try the Mississippi Mud Cake, made from Oreo cookies, chocolate, mascarpone & Jack Daniels or the Chocolate Bourbon pecan pie. Sounds good!

The interior of the restaurant is a combination of industrial and colonial styles, with wood furniture and jungle-like wall paintings that we want at home too!

Ps: there is also a chef’s table near the open kitchen. The chef then brings you the food and gives some explanation with it.

Enjoy the food at Mississippi Bar Kitchen Amsterdam!
