New York

B. in New York City: Meatpacking district, Chelsea Market and the Highline

28 July 2013

Shopping at the Meatpacking District

After two weeks in New York City without any shopping I just had to buy something ;-). Sowe decided on an afternoon of shopping at the Meatpacking District. It’s known for the former warehouses and slaughter houses that are transformed into the nicest restaurants. The Meatpacking District is one of the most trendy districts in New York City. Spotted in New York: the spandex legging. At the basics store American Apparel I bought a super skinny “I’m-tool-sexy-for-your-party” one.

Chelsea Market

I love the Meatpacking District! At Chelsea Market you can shop around for hours. At the Anthropologie store I bought cute little shorts at the sale and they’re so not last season :-). I still have to get used to the friendly and helpful staff here compared to Amsterdam! Things like “oh I soooo love those shorts on you” are daily business here, lol.

A fun thing about Chelsea Market is that it’s perfect for lunch at one of the many food shops. There are so many delicious food options there! We had a yummy low-fat-gluten-free-falafel sandwich with iced jasmin tea and ordered it to take out. It’s very nice to eat your food at the Highline (public park on former railway) which is just around the corner of Chelsea Market. This place is great for people watching and cooling off your feet in the water. And believe me, with these tropical temperatures that is all you want! When you’re at the Highline don’t forget to make some cool pictures of the streets at the Meatpacking as you’re overlooking them. And don’t forget the other side with a view on New Jersey, which lies directly across the Hudson. I could wave to my new apartment which is right on the banks of the Hudson!
