B. in New York City: from Greenwich to Tribeca

21 July 2013

There’s a heat wave in New York City at the moment! It’s sooo warm and this weekend I made a big mistake wearing long pants on our walk to discover Tribeca (but they look so good on meeee). Not a good idea. Too damn hot. In Tribeca the cool restaurants and bars are a bit hidden. So it takes some effort to discover the hotspots here. Totally different from Meatpacking or Greenwich where trendy restaurants seem to be on almost every corner.

Tea is HOT at Kaffe 1668

On our way to Tribeca we were looking for a hotspot with cold beers when we passed Kaffe 1668 in Greenwich Village. A nice little cafe with a trendy interior. So we just HAD to do one coffee at Kaffe 1668. Kaffe 1668 is a cool coffee cafe (literately, as the temperature outside was about 30 and inside sooo cool) coffee place. At Kaffe 1668 they serve the best espresso’s and many kinds of hot teas (very hip nowadays in NY) and yummy chocolates.

Italian restaurant Locanda Verde

Locanda Verde is a famous Italian restaurant in Tribeca. So we decided to go there for dinner! The appetizer, crab crostini with jalapeño and tomato was exquisite (and small). In New York they keep up the speed at restaurants. So wherever you’re going out for dinner, your main course is served immediately when you finish your starter. At Locanda Verde I had the most amazing halibut EVER. I didn’t know this fish could even taste like this! The soft almost buttery like halibut makes me definitely want to go there again. “If we would like a dessert or coffee? Ah yes, cappuccino please”. And with the coffee comes the bill. That’s how they roll in New York City ;-).

Drinks at Anotheroom

After the ‘quick’ dinner we want to see more of this Tribeca! The bar Anotheroom is located at the street adjacent to Locanda Verde. A bar where you can choose from many different beers. Everything with “summer ale” at Anotheroom is good! Inside it’s pitch dark which gives it an underground like vibe, but the small candles make it cosy and intimate. Also great Anotheroom: the outdoor terrace!

After a few drinks we head home! Tomorrow we have a full day with lots of cool things to do :-).

Talk to you soon!
