In this Stockholm City Gudie Kristina Tjäder, the head designer and co-founder of Dagmar, shares her favourite things to do in Stockholm. She lives in Stockholm and knows the city by heart! Her fashion brand Dagmar has a pop-up store at De Bijenkorf at the moment. Dagmar’s design is characterised by its intellectual, sexy and contemporary style. The collections are based in traditional craft and tailoring, using innovative and new combinations. Since we love the Nordic style we asked Kristina about her favourite spots in Stockholm. Tips from a local are always the best right?

The ideal day in Stockholm…
“In the weekend an ideal day would be to stroll around the art galleries in Vasastan and eat brunch with my family. My favourite galleries are Andréhn-Schiptjenko, Nau Gallery and Natalia Goldin Lundh.”

Most beautiful spot
“The view of the city from Restaurant Gondolen, its magnificent!”

Best neighbourhood
“Östermalm, its where our office is located. It’s both very central but also close to nature and water with a local feeling. My favourite restaurant is Sannas, I love the furniture store Modernity and the fruit and flower market on the square Östermalmstorg.”

Shopping in Stockholm
“What’s the best place for a shopping spree in Stockholm? The classic department store NK, its lovely! Bibliotekstan is the main street for shopping which carries good brands and shops.”

Lunch spot
“Which place is great for lunch and should be on everyone’s to visit list for Stockholm? The brunch at Berns Hotel is a must!”

Favourite restaurants
“I love Lilla Ego, it’s the best restaurant in Stockholm with fantastic food and a great atmosphere. Flying Elk in Gamla Stan (Old Town) is also a favourite. If your visiting Stockholm in the summer time I highly recommend Oaxen Slip on Djurgården, you can take a boat ride to the restaurant from Old Town and the Tivoli is located next to the restaurant which is great for a fun evening with family and friends!”

Evening drinks
“If you go out for a drink at night, where do you like to nip on your cocktail? Nosh and Chow has amazing drinks and is my favourite!”

Local dish to taste!
“What’s your favourite Swedish dish and where can we taste that in Stockholm? The meatballs at Konstnärsbaren is a classic and the restaurant is great.”

Hidden gem
“The restaurant PA & Co, it’s a real classic with traditional food, great music, filled with a fun mix of people that are regulars from years back.”

Sleep
Hotel Diplomat or Lydmar, both with lovely views of the water, good brunches and central.”

Not to miss…
“The area around Nytorget on Södermalm has great restaurants, bars, coffee shops and a good mix of vintage stores.”
