SHIRAZ Amsterdam: Amsterdam’s very first wine bar with wine boutique

23 November 2017

FOR TASTING, DRINKING AND BUYING WINE YOU GO TO SHIRAZ AMSTERDAM

YES! Our favourite trend continues: another new wine bar has opened in Amsterdam and not just one. SHIRAZ Jardin des Vins & Boutique Amsterdam is both a wine bar and wine boutique in one. At SHIRAZ Amsterdam the concept focuses mainly on – as expected – wine. There are between 40 and 50 open wines and 150 wines in total (!). The wine can also be purchased in the adjoining boutique that can be accessed both outside and inside. Better said: you can take that tasty wine with you back home ;-) The atmosphere is a combination of traditional France combined with the Middle East.

Owners Anita Boezaard and Wim Wiersma had been looking for a good location in Amsterdam to open a wine bar for a while already, and suddenly came across the building on the Lijnbaansgracht, where there was partly a catering license and a shop permit. And so the concept was born to start a wine bar & boutique. The wine bar really had to become a living room where you can taste, drink, eat and buy. And that is exactly what it became ;-)

over 150 wines and bites to share at shiraz amsterdam

Alright, back to the wine. And not just some wine bottles, there are more than 150 wines on the menu and in the store to buy, of which at least 40 are served per glass. For the wines, 15 taste icons describe the type of wine. Great, you’re never going to pick the wrong wine again.

And with the wine you need of course snacks, because what is a good glass of wine without a tasty bite? On the menu you can find snacks that are perfect to share by two. Think of 3 to 4 bites per person and you already have a full meal! Just like the wines, the snacks come from everywhere: Italy, Spain, Portugal, Eastern Europe etc. For example, think of Spanish Iberico croquettes wrapped with Serrano ham and mustard mayonnaise or candied quails with black bean salad and truffle mayonnaise. Or go for the extensive SHIRAZ Plateau, so you can try various snacks ;-) YUM!

In terms of interior they were inspired by the combination of French and Eastern influences. The colours have an Iranian touch and also romantic French details. Just like the wines and bites!

SHIRAZ Amsterdam is the perfect place to have a nice glass of wine with tasty snacks and linger with friends or even  your date. Have fun!
