10 x best new lunch hotspots in Amsterdam for your next lunch date

2 January 2017

selected for you: the best lunch hotspots in amsterdam of 2016

Lunch is always a good idea when you ask me. Sometimes I enjoy it even more than dinner on a week day. Last year many new lunch hotspots opened the doors in Amsterdam and in this blog I’m sharing ten of my favourite addresses. Some of them are open for a longer time already but are still my go to places in town. Whether it’s lunch with my lover or with friends, I just keep going back to these spots. Enjoy if you’re going to check them out in 2017 too!

10 x great (new) lunch hotspots in Amsterdam

Pluk At Pluk in the Nine Streets you want more than just lunch. It’s not only the healthy sandwiches, salads, juices and coffee that make you hungry, also the beautiful lifestyle and interior items make your mouth watering. The menu, decor and vibes are just about right here.

George Bistro: Thanks to the delicious comfort food, George in Old-South is a true favorite when in comes to the best lunch spots of the past year. The tuna pizza, caesar salad and steak tartare are always the same: very, very good. The interior feels like a classic bistro, like you’re in Paris for the minute ;-)

Gartine: Gartine is not really new, but grew up to an absolute favorite lunch spot thanks to its delicious high tea. So once a hidden gem and now a well known address in the heart of the city centre. At Gartine they work as much as possible with organic ingredients and preferably from the kitchen garden. I like to go to Amsterdam Gartine for lunch because it is one of the few small and cozy tents in the center :-)

METROPOLITAIN: 2016 just might be the year of the Rokin. Suddenly all the construction works disappeared as snow in the sun and made room for quite nice terraces on the sidewalk. At the sidewalk in front of Metropolitain as well, the place to hop in for all day extended breakfast. Croissants, porridge, fruit and eggs benedicts, sandwiches, burgers, salads, they have it all!

meatless district 2 600x450
Meatless district: They already announced their opening in 2015, but their dream location wasn’t founded until mid-2016. Meatless District alighted on the Bilderdijkstreet and it feels if it has never been otherwise. The menu is totally – like the name already suggests – vegetarian and yet carnivores can eat delicious food here as well ;-)

Vinnies: Since this joint opened the doors at the Haarlemmerstraat this is one of the favourite spots of many Amsterdammers. They open at  07.30 and it’s a great place for good coffee, delicious croissants and good sandwiches. All organic where possible. Last year they opened a 3rd branch at the Scheldestraat!

the meets amsterdam 600x450 2
The Meets: From the moment that The Meets opened its doors, this hotspot had already won. That s partly due to its delicious sugar-free and gluten-free dishes and wonderful interior. Here they have something delicious for each time of the day: breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. The sugar and gluten-free cakes in combination with good coffee makes The Meets the ideal spot for daytime!

De Plantage: Oh oh, how we love having lunch at the Plantage. We do this either after out walk by Artis or just whenever we feel like it. The location – next to the zoo – is unique and the interior of the building (lights, high ceilings and large) makes it the perfect lunch spot of choice to just forget everything around you and enjoy the delicious food.

Louie Louie
Louie Louie: Yay, we’re so happy with the introduction of Louie Louie. This building was in decline for years and now finally got his well-deserved upgrade. Louie Louie has a large terrace, a large bar and an extensive menu with Argentinean touch. You do lunch here with salads, egg dishes, soups and more!

Breda: Breda opened the doors with one mission and that is the to take the Bourgondische enjoyment to a higher level. Burgundian enjoyment to a higher level. Whether they will get that coveted Michelin star, we won’t know until December 12, hey have conquered our hearts. Here you lunch (and dine) the most delicious dishes in an elegant setting, with high ceilings, white linens and ornate lamps. Love! Go to Breda here >>
