Brrr… it is so cold! At home the heater is on, but also when I go out for a drink or bite I try
to go to a warm, cozy place. Even better: I try to go to a place with a fireplace! How romantic, to just sit back, relax and enjoy a glass of red wine or some hot chocolate with your friends or lover. Luckily, there are some nice places in Amsterdam with a fireplace. This spot at De Baarsjes is perfect to have drinks and bites with friends. There is plenty of space around the fire place for your friends. You just need to be lucky that nobody beat you to it :-)

When thinking of winter, you probably won’t think of Hanneke’s Boom immediately. But did you know this place has a fireplace? Order a hot choco or glass of red wine and pick your spot here for a warm and cozy night.

LION NOIR >>

Lion Noir is a all time classic spot. You come here for the great cocktails and make sure to find you spot near the fire place. Tip: order an espresso martini, they are delicious :-)

Not only during the summer months Pllek is a nice place to go to. During the cold winter months, they have a fireplace! Sit at one of the couches and watch, while warming up, the sunset on the IJ. Pllek is the perfect hangout!

VERGULDEN EENHOORN >>

The Vergulden Eenhoorn in Amsterdam East is the place where you can escape form the busy centre. This all year round cool spot is actually a old farmhouse which makes it very cosy. A big bonus is the fire place in winter together  with the heated terraces outside.

Meneer Nieges >>

From the same nest as the Vergulden Eenhoorn, Meneer Nieges has become a favourite of many in a short period of time. The location along the water is unique and it should as warm and cozy in the winter as in the summer over here. That’s why the have not one, but two fireplaces here. One inside, the other one on the terrace outside.

Another nice spot in Amsterdam North is Noorderlicht. It’s on walking distance of Pllek. Here you will find a tough, rugged fireplace where you can warm up.

And we are gonna stay in Amsterdam North just a little longer! De IJ-kantine has a lounge with a fireplace where you can sit down, relax and have a cup of soup.

If you are looking for a place with a view then go to the W Lounge (at W Hotel). Take place in one of the design chairs close to the fire place. You won’t feel anything from the heat but it still looks nice :-)

You find Hangar along the IJ where the wind can blow pretty hard. So a warm cozy place is very welcome. To heat the place up Hangar does not only have a big fireplace, but very comfortable beanbags as well. Perfect for those cold bums ;-)
