these are the nicest hotspots in the Javastraat Amsterdam

One of the nicest streets in Amsterdam East is the Javastraat Amsterdam. Full with shops and products from all around the world together with super trendy hotspots. At the grocery store you buy the best vegetables, bread, herbs and spices. Next thing you plump down at a nice coffee bar, lunchroom, or restaurant. In this blog we will show you our favourite places to go to at the Javastraat (and Javaplein) in Amsterdam. Have fun!

12 x food & drinks in the Javastraat Amsterdam

The Walrus & The Carpenter: this seafood bar in East has a warm and cozy interior. Think of lots of wood, blue accents and nice details that refer to the seafood concept. The menu is bursting with au fruit de mer, oysters and other seafood. Nice: you can order the seafood plates hot or cold to eat with friends.
Strongfood: at this restaurant the focus lies on healthy and powerful food. They sell fresh nuts and superfoods and have a lot of vegan, vegetarian and suger-free options. We are fan!
Wilde Zwijnen: this restaurant on Javaplein has been Yourlbb’s favourite for years! Here they serve beautiful fish, meat and veggie dishes. The wooden tables with old school chairs, lots of white and industrial elements give the place a nice and cosy vibe.
Eetbar Wilde Zwijnen: little brother of Wilde Zwijnen and only a step away also at Javaplein. Here you can order middle size meals to share which taste as good as the ones at their neighbour.
Bar Gallizia: a cosy Italian restaurant in the Indische buurt! At Bar Gallizia you can drink the nicest Italian wines, have lunch or go out for dinner. Thanks to the nice living room atmosphere a real recommendation to visit.

Bedford Stuyvesant: here you drink the best coffee in the Javastraat! Bedfort Stuyvesant is perfect for a catchup with friends and an afternoon of drinking coffees. In summertime the outside terrace is nice to take place.
Majesteit Taart: something to celebrate? Here you can buy the beste cakes of Amsterdam. With some organic, gluten free and sugar free. And did you know Majesteit Taart also delivers cakes to for example Hutspot?
Bar Basquiat: this all-day hotspot for breakfast, lunch and drinks has tasty sandwiches and great cocktails on their menu. Before the opening people were already calling this hotspot the hidden gem of the Javastraat. This hotspot is therefore a must-visit.
Rum Barrel: from chocolate to coffee and from cocktails to comfort food and cigars. This spot with a tropical hint has so much to offer!
The Walter Woodbury Bar: coffee, juices, lunch, dinner or a drink. You can do and have it all at Walter’s.
Badhuis: this is thé place where locals gather for drinks and bites! Is it a sunny day? Go sit outside on their sunny terrace!

4 x shopping in the Javastraat Amsterdam

Støv: this is a great shop for buying gifts and interior items. They have a lot of fun stuff to style your home, like frames, lamps, decorative pillows and so much more. Ps. they have lots of fun items for children too.
Div Damesboudoir: after the Herenkabinet Div now has a shop for women in the Javastraat: Damesboudoir. In this store, they have an original and diverse collection of clothing, jewelry, bags and shoes of well-known and less well-known brands.
Ashes to Snow: for hair, music and design! Ashes to Snow is a high-end hairdresser but also a gallery, shop and stage for music and other performances.
Hartje Oost: here it’s all about good coffee and beautiful brands. Concept store Hartje Oost is a cozy coffee boutique where you are welcome for coffee, cake and lunch. But here you also shop the most beautiful clothes, accessories and gifts.
