Gekaapt Amsterdam: a concept store at the Kinkerstraat where you want to go

20 July 2017

Gekaapt Amsterdam, the online traveling store now in west

Gekaapt Amsterdam has officially anchored at the Kinkerstraat in West. Now I can hear you think, ‘I know that name…’ Gekaapt Amsterdam was or actually still is, an online shop and pop-up shop. A shop where you can get the most beautiful interior and fashion items from brands that are focused on sustainability. And now they have a permanent location in the city where you can drop by every day to look for nice items for yourself or your friends birthday.

Every day you can meet the (right now) 17 enthusiastic Gekaapt entrepreneurs in the shop on the Kinkerstraat. Meet the maker of your new pillow, painting or scarf. How nice is that?! They also have a new line in the shop of Gekaapt Amsterdam; The Vegan Lane, a collection of brands and products that fit into the vegan lifestyle, animal-friendly and animal-free.

Gekaapt Amsterdam is still helping young dreamers to succes

Gekaapt Amsterdam was founded in 2013 by Rick Ruijter of Brût Amsterdam, Aanyoug Yeh and Jan Swinkels of Doing Goods and Wonderwall Studios. 4 years and 8 different pop-ups later, the trio handed the business to Natali Salvaggio, who has been joining Gekaapt with her own online and offline interior shop Hunting the Pretty for 2 years already. The concept hasn’t changed since. Gekaapt is still a place where individual entrepreneurs are helped to create succes. All the beautiful brands with sustainable products in the area of fashion, interior, food and body care can now also be shopped in the offline store of Gekaapt Amsterdam.

Despite the fact that Gekaapt now has a permanent location in Amsterdam, they remain a bunch of pirates. They are still looking for the most beautiful, most special brands ;-) The credo remains ‘Work like a captain, play like a pirate’. Thumbs up!
