Dikke Graaf Amsterdam: drinks and dinner hotspot in West

8 July 2015

Fine dinging at Dikke Graaf Amsterdam

There’s a great new hotspot in Amsterdam Old West: restaurant Dikke Graaf! Since about three months opened at the Wilhelmina in Amsterdam. Last weekend I went there to eat a bite with the boyfriend and we were immediately blown away by the rough yet warm interior, little terrace and chill atmosphere. Furthermore you get a real personal treatment here and some delicious food. The menu features a variety of small dishes to share. And as you know I am a huge fan of shared dining!

De geboeders Graave

Dikke Graaf in Amsterdam was founded and is run by two brothers. They wanted to create a place where people can meet and have a good time and I can tell you: they succeeded! Although Dikke Graaf is still mostly known by people from the neighborhood, I’m sure won’t regret taking your bike for a ride to have a drink or bite here. It is such a nice place! Both inside hanging at the bar or sitting at the large table or outside on the sunny terrace. Please note: only open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 15:00.

Share bites and taste it all

On the menu of Dikke Graaf in Amsterdam you’ll find different small dishes. Perfect, because then you can try all the dishes ánd you get to share with your table companion.  Think of antipasti such as oysters, brushetta, sashimi of salmon, buffalo mozzarella with homemade pesto, garlic prawns, rillette of duck and fillet of Iberico. You can also order some classic dishes such as steak tartare (my all-time favorite!) and tournedos. And are you really hungry? The chef serves varying salad, pasta, fish and meat dishes. We tried a number of dishes from the antipasti and of course I could not resist ordering the steak tartare. What was it delicious! Super fresh food where the ingredients are mainly purchased from local entrepreneurs and of high quality. We really enjoyed every bit of it!

Tip: save room for dessert and order the homemade tiramisu with … Oreo! I’m not a sweet tooth but oh my god, this was de-li-cious!
