26 x clubs in Amsterdam to visit with your friends

ESCAPE

Escape is a nightclub located in the heart of Amsterdam. Featuring multiple dance floors, bars, and VIP areas, Escape offers a comprehensive experience for party-goers of all backgrounds and musical tastes. The club attracts both locals and international visitors and is renowned for its energetic atmosphere and impressive line-ups of DJs and live acts. Escape is a must-visit destination for those seeking an unforgettable night out in Amsterdam.

SHELTER

At club Shelter, you’ll feel like you’re in a bustling Berlin club thanks to its brutalist architecture and interior. Just like the clubs in Berlin, this club is a must for true night owls. With a 24-hour licence, no nearby neighbours, and a sound system that makes you feel the bass in your body, you’re guaranteed an intense night of partying and dancing. The unique interior completes the picture, making this one of the best clubs in Amsterdam.

Garage Noord

Garage Noord is already a well-known hangout for many Amsterdammers, but every evening this former garage transforms into an awesome club. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, arrive at 8:00 PM for cocktails and snacks, and as the evening progresses, the music gets louder until the tables are moved aside and the party really kicks off. Garage Noord is a club for everyone, where progressiveness and making memories take centre stage!

Skatecafé

Right next to Garage Noord, you’ll find the increasingly popular Skatecafé, a trendy bar-restaurant combination in the heart of Amsterdam Noord. Gather with a large group of friends here for a relaxed dinner or a cosy drink, while also enjoying the indoor skaters’ stunts. If you’re looking for more fun on Friday and Saturday nights, stick around for good music, multiple bars, and plenty of space to dance. It’s definitely a favourite in our opinion.

Club Radio Radio

Club Radio Radio near Westerpark has been the go-to dance spot for DJs since 2018, partly thanks to its associated radio station RRFM. While it used to be more of a late-night bar where you could happen to dance, Radio Radio has now truly become a full-fledged club after its recent renovation. If you love being surprised by music, this is the place to be, as behind the iconic DJ booth you’ll find DJs who have already caught attention at smaller festivals but haven’t yet been spotted by the big clubs and festivals. Definitely worth a dance!

Murmur

Murmur Amsterdam is one of the new hotspots in Amsterdam, and we understand why! At Murmur, you can start your evening with a nice dinner, followed by an extensive music session with live music or a great vinyl record playing in the background. On successful and enjoyable evenings, the night often ends with an afterparty, making an already fantastic evening even better. ‘Space for sound, also bar and kitchen,’ they describe themselves, and we think this perfectly sums up MurMur. Murmur is undoubtedly the most stylish evening clubbing spot in Amsterdam!

MORE CLUBS IN AMSTERDAM

Parallel

We already love visiting De Tolhuistuin, and at the end of the building you’ll find club Parallel, which has been around for some time now. Every Friday and Saturday, the lights go down and the music turns up in this nightclub. You can dance here until late into the night, and with ‘one side in the now and the other in the future’, as the founders describe it, you’ll find more than just music here. Alongside dynamic club nights, there are also exhibitions, concerts, and art installations on the agenda. There’s something for everyone, but going for the dance floor here is recommended for all!

THE OTHER SIDE

The Other Side in the Houthavens is a cool and alternative club where you can almost always have a great night out on Fridays and/or Saturdays. This club boasts a truly amazing and unique sound system, and the music here is genuinely very good. House, Eclectic, and Techno—this club has it all. Perhaps the best thing about The Other Side is its regular visitors; everyone is welcome here and respected. As a result, the club has a pleasant atmosphere and tends to attract only friendly people. Don’t forget to buy a ticket beforehand to guarantee yourself a spot on the dance floor.

BENELUX BAR

For most of us, the delightful pizzeria Europizza and Restaurant Europa are already well-known, and now this fantastic team has started a bar/club, completing the lineup. Benelux Bar has thought carefully about its audience and is the ideal place to unwind with a drink after a day’s work and before you know it, you’ll be on the dance floor with 350 others. Want to enjoy a delicious pizza before your drinks? Just hop over to the neighbours, as the aforementioned Europizza is just a stone’s throw away.

BAR CHIMI & OLIVA

We’re huge fans of restaurants where you can dance on the tables in the late hours, and Bar Chimi & Club Oliva happens to be one of those places. You can start your evening early at Bar Chimi with a nice meal and a good glass of wine, and as the night progresses, the music gets louder and the atmosphere (even) better. The interior here is truly top-notch, and the location couldn’t be better. A real favourite!
Amstel 80, Amsterdam – bar-chimi.nl

NOORDWAARDS

As the name suggests, Noordwaards is located in Amsterdam Noord, and we’re certainly not surprised that this is another great club. In this old shipyard, cool parties have been organized in previous years, such as Draaimolen and Festimi, but for the past year, there’s been a proper club here. At Noordwaards, you can almost always drop in for a drink and a dance on Fridays and Saturdays, as the programming team aims to fill the agenda every weekend. When the weather’s nice, you can also enjoy sitting outside here. Definitely a favourite!

MORE CLUBS IN AMSTERDAM WHERE YOU CAN DANCE ALL NIGHT

LOFI

Lofi is located in the heart of Havenstad and is a cultural haven in a former warehouse. Since 2019, you’ll find a creative crowd here consisting of artists, musicians, and other culture enthusiasts. Festivals are regularly organized here, but it’s also a great spot for a regular party. It’s best to buy tickets in advance to secure a spot on the dance floor. The music you can expect here? We’d describe it as a mix of deep techno and house, but the best way to find out is to come and experience it yourself.
Basisweg 63, Amsterdam – lofi.amsterdam

LEVENSLANG AMSTERDAM

Levenslang is a raw nightclub located in the basement of the former old Bijlmerbajes prison. With concrete and steel elements in the club’s interior and the history of this building, this is a club where you can dance hard to good music and party until the early hours of the morning. You can still see the history and former purpose of the building reflected in the club, where you can even dance on the former exercise yard of the ex-prisoners. Another nice bonus, making this one of Amsterdam’s best clubs, is that Levenslang Amsterdam is known for its exceptionally clean toilets. It doesn’t get better than that.
H.J.E. Wenckebachweg 48, Amsterdam – levenslang.amsterdam

JIMMY WOO

Jimmy Woo, who in our capital city doesn’t know this name? The famous nightclub in Korte Leidsedwarsstraat has had new owners since June 2023, and we’ve only become bigger fans. This inclusive but exclusive club, as the owners like to call it, aims to be accessible to everyone while giving visitors the feeling of being at an exclusive party. With the amazing interior, unique layout, and especially the great atmosphere on the dance floor, we think they’ve succeeded. Jimmy Woo is perhaps the best club in Amsterdam.

CHIN CHIN CLUB

At Chin Chin Club on Rozengracht in the city centre of Amsterdam, you can not only enjoy delicious food but also party until the late (or early) hours. Not in the mood to dance? You can also come here for a karaoke night with friends. How fun is that?

CANVAS

Canvas is located on the seventh floor of the fantastic Volkshotel in East. During the day, you can enjoy good food here, but on weekends, Canvas turns into Club Canvas, a cool nightclub. With a beautiful view over Amsterdam’s lights.

Weteringschans 6, Amsterdam – paradiso.nl

MAÏA

Near the Melkweg, you can also visit Club Maïa. It boasts a fantastic interior (think: peacocks at the bar, Moroccan tiles, flower walls, etc.) and hosts different club nights every week.

EdelWise

You probably know Edel in West. And did you also know you can go there on Friday afternoon to have some drinks until late? Yes, that’s EdelWise. Get your ticket at the door, or go here to enjoy a 3-course meal and dance afterwards.

Chicago Social Club

At the Chicago Social Club the roof comes off every weekend. Especially during Super Social which is organised every Thursday. Oh and by the way: nobody calls Chicago Social Club by its full name. Everybody is always talking about the Soos.

Bitterzoet is a bar, club and stage in one. You’ll find some cool electronic and hip hop acts on the stage often. From rock and punk to hiphop, funk and soul: Bitterzoet is trying to set up a very varied musical ensemble. That means a lot of dancing in the intimate club.
