Amsterdam East is one of the upcoming or so called hipster neighbourhoods in Amsterdam! It almost seems that a new hotspot opens the doors every week. I’m one of the happy Amsterdammers to call Amsterdam East my home and what I really like is that it’s super close to the city center and De Pijp but that it has a completely different vibe. In the warmer months a drink at the rooftop of The Volkshotel is a must to enjoy the stunning views over Amsterdam!

Discover the Javastraat & Linneausstraat in East

Another thing I really like about Amsterdam East is that you find hotspots and lowspots right next to each other in one street. When it comes to restaurants there is really something for everyone and for every budget! The Javastraat and the Linneausstraat are some of the best shopping streets on the East side of town.

If you want the local feel and experience the multi-culural vibe of Amsterdam East then the local market ‘Dappermarkt’ is a must visit. You can find delicious streetfood there like kebab and more! And no matter which season, a stroll around the Oosterpark is a great idea. In the summer months you can even find a plunge pool there for kids. Another great place to visit during the weekend is Park Frankendael in Amsterdam East. This is also the place where the Pure Markt (a Sunday Market) is held once a month.

And finally: if you’re looking for a hotspot for bites and drinks you can find many nice restaurants around the Oosterpark, in the Javastraat and on Beukenplein!
