A new discovery for me in New York! Coffeed with Brooklyn Grange upstairs on the roof

Did you know that there are a lot of rooftop gardens here in New York? You have the chance to visit one of them yourself! Or it’s even better than a rooftop garden. It’s a farmers rooftop garden. Yeah, that’s pretty cool right? We are in Long Island City today to visit one of them.

Definitely start your day with breakfast or brunch at Coffeed. Great service and the food is A LOT. The salads are huge and yummy. Ingredients come from the gardens upstairs. Actually I just saw the chef coming from upstairs with a box full of tomatoes, salad, and radicchios which are now on our plate. Can it get even more fresh than this?!
They roast their own coffee (which is excellent!) from coffee beans bought from environmentally conscious farmers. And how awesome is this: a part of their sales is donated to local charities. Great and smart concept.

Our tummies are full, so we head upstairs to the rooftop farm of Brooklyn Grange. This is pretty cool. They grow all sorts of veggies and herbs, which you can buy here, but they mainly sell to local restaurants and stores. And will you look at the scenery, so nice with the tops of the buildings from Manhattan on the background…

Just rent a bike and head to Long Island City! There’s much more to discover here.
