Bistro Baret Amsterdam: simple gratification in the city centre

4 May 2016

fine dining has never been so easy at bistro baret amsterdam

Not that long ago someone asked me about a nice eatery in the neighbourhood of Carré. If I had only known Bistro Baret Amsterdam then. This (not so) new restaurant fills the gap exactly. Because if you’re looking for a nice place to eat, prior to your visit to the theatre, then Bistro Baret is the solution. Their fresh French meals give the perfect start to a wonderful evening.

And although this Bistro has been opened since the end of 2015, it is not surprising that we only discover it now. Tucked away in a quiet street around the corner of Carré, I spotted it by accident when cycling by. A true hidden gem, French style. Because brothers Dorus and Daan have completely transformed this small space into a true classic bistro. Both the menu and the interior provide an enjoyable little culture shock. Oui oui!bistro baret amsterdam 600x450 1The menu isn’t all too extensive and only contains the classic French toppers. Exactly how I like it ;-) To start for example a steak tartare with quail egg or ‘oriental’ mussels in a spicy red curry. Mmm! And the same goes for the main courses: a cote de boeuf of tender Scotch beef with fresh vegetables from the market or a delicious prime rib. And obviously you need to top it off with a delicious dessert, right? How about curd with crispy gingerbread, red fruits and chocolate shavings? It should be clear: even if you’re not heading to Carré, Bistro Baret Amsterdam is the perfect place for fine dining without any fuss!
