Adhisthana Hotel: I always love it when you discover a really cool design hotel in a city that’s also very affordable. You immediately feel at home at the Adhisthana Hotel. On the courtyard near the lobby you can relax for a bit, but it’s even better to go and relax by the pool. The whole hotel is interiored with locally made things. The next time I’m in Yogyakarta I’ll definitely stay here for a couple of nights!

Inna Garuda: The Inna Garuda hotel used to be one of the most fancy hotels in the city. You still feel the grandeur when you walk through the corriders of the hotell. During my press trip through Java I stayed here at one of the suites and the rooms are interiored with authentic Indonesian furniture. This hotel is situated at the main street Jl. Malioboro which is convenient if you want to explore the city by foot or want to go for a bit of shopping.

Travel Tips YOGYAKARTA (JAVA, INDONESIa)

This is how you get there: There are several airlines that fly to Java daily. Of course you can fly directly to Yakarta and then on to Yogyakarta, but it’s also fun to do a stop-over in another cool city like Singapore or Hong Kong. In that case, fly with Singapore Airlines or with Cathay Pacific. They even often have a direct flight to Yogyakarta!
