3 x best hotels on Phu Quoc Island (Vietnam) for every budget2 August 2017
our favourite boutique hotels on phu quoc island in vietnam
Phu Quoc (can also be written as Phú Quốc) in Vietnam is a lovely island for ultimate relaxation after your round trip through this beautiful land. It’s less than an hour away from Ho Chi Minh city (although the Southern Vietnamese still prefer to call it Saigon) and with a low budget airline like VietJet you can book a flight for less than 50 Euros. If you’re flying with a lowcost airline make sure to check what the rules regarding luggage are, because most cheap tickets are being sold without the luggage on board.
I love to visit places that are still relatively unknown and Phu Quoc Island is definitely one of those places. Are you delving yourself into a round trip through Vietnam then you’re bound to come across it, but chacnes are that until that moment you haven’t heard of Phu Quoc Island yet. At the moment a lot is being built there and I get the feeling that now is the right moment to enjoy your holiday there before the majority of Western tourists discover it.
beautiful design hotels for every budget
You won’t lack beautiful hotels in Phu Quoc Island! I’ve recently spent a week there to destress from the daily life in Amsterdam and in this blog I’ll line up three of the best hotels in Phu Quoc (Vietnam) for you of several price ranges. Suitable for every budget, but of course you can always find accommodations online that’ll fit even better in your budget if you’re not looking for a design hotel or boutique hotel to stay in Phu Quoc, Vietnam. I mean, budget is a relative understanding and totally depended on the kind of trip you’re making. Phu Quoc for instance, is an island that’s on one hand very popular among expats in Asia who like to get a weekend away and relax by the beach in a luxurious hotel, and on the other hand there are backpackers who are making a round trip through Indochina and want to end their trip by going to an island.
take the different seasons of phu quoc island into account
Are you looking for a hotel on Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam? I stayed in the most beautiful hotels during my stay in Phu Quoc that are sure of a spot in my personal top 10 of all my years of travelling for Your Little Black Book when it comes to service and ambiance. Phu Quoc in Vietnam is an island that has several micro climates. So keep the following in mind when you’re going to book your hotel: during the dry season the sea is calm and azure blue on the side of the capital city Dương Đông (Duong Dong) and during the rainy season the sea is calm and bright blue on the side of Sao Beach (that is, when it’s not raining!). I was there during the rainy season and had a lovely time in between all the rain showers! But… it’s just a matter of luck, of course. That’s why I would always recommend a hotel with a nice pool and a good spa nearby for ultimate relaxation!
3 x the best hotels on phu quoc suitable for every budget
Like I mentioned before I stayed in Phu Quoc during the rainy season and because that’s the low season there, the hotels have different prices up to three times as cheap as the normal rate. That’s why you always have to check the rates for the period you’re planning on travelling to Vietnam. In our opinion these are the best hotels on Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam.
9Station Hostel // €
Poshtels, or in other words posh hotels, are ascending all over the world and on Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam the trendy boutique hostel 9Station Hostel is a nice and affordable place to stay. The rooms are simple, but the common areas are nicely decorated with an industrial touch and local materials like bamboo and lots of wood. 9Station Hostel on Phu Quoc also has a small, but cosy swimming pool to relax after a long flight or a day of scooter riding on the island. When it comes to rooms you can book a (bunk) bed of course, but for whoever kind of grew out of that the rooms for two are recommended!
MGallery La Veranda Resort & Spa // €€
The MGallery La Veranda hotel on Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam is without a doubt on of the most beautiful boutique hotels on the best that I’ve ever stayed in. A resort with a ‘mere’ 70 rooms that are separated over several low building, all built in French colonial style. That’s why MGallery La Veranda on Pu Quoc Island really feels like a home away from home. The country house is inspirate on the parental house of owner Madame Catherine situated in Cambodia and it’s very personally decorated. Across the entire hotel you see this personal touch and feel and they work in the most sustainable way possible. We stayed in a Junior Suite from where you can directly walk into the garden or on the beach. Every day they offer yoga classes and the Pepper Tree restaurant is also a recommendation for a gastronomic dinner, even if you’re not staying here. JW Marriot Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa // €€€
With 244 rooms the JW Marriot Phu Quoc resort in Emerald Buy is a little less small-scaled than say, the MGallery La Veranda Hotel, but my oh my it’s so incredibly beautiful here! That kind of hotel where you’re already secretly making plans for you’re next stay here when you haven’t even left yet, because the atmosphere is so relaxing that you totally feel at ease. The concept of the hotel is very special. That is because it is built on the ground where before the war Lamark University was situated. During the war this university was unfortunately destroyed, but JW Marriot Phu Quoc is built in the same style. Through the entire hotel you can recognize the theme of the university and every building has its own theme. We stayed in building number three on the sixth floor in room four. I specifically mention all this because this is THE room with a view on the shell-shaped swimming pool. A magical view and I won’t be surprised if this is going to be the ‘next big pool’ that will take over Instagram. Would you like to know more about this beautiful resort? Read all about it in my extensive blog of the JW Marriot Phu Quoc resort in Emerald Bay.
