Senegambia Beach Hotel: This hotel is bound to give you that true African feeling because of their tropical garden with exotic birds, lots of palm trees and monkeys that will join you during your much needed me-time. The hotel is situated in the heart of Kololi, approximately 15 km from the Banjul airport and it’s located directly at the beach. Don’t feel like lying on the beach? Cool down in one of the pools or drink a cocktail at their pool bar while enjoying the sunset. In the evening you’re on the Senegambia Strip in no time where you really get to experience the Gambian culture. Because here the locals and tourists eat all night long, they enjoy live music and dance till the early morning. This hotel is perfect if you want to have the possibility to go out in the evening and experience the liveliness outside of the hotel.

Leo’s Beach: Looking for a nice boutique hotel? Leo’s Beach can be found in Brufut, around 3 km from the National Park Bijilo and 11 km from the Banjul airport. Leo’s Beach is a hotel of high quality here in Gambia. They provide free WiFi in all areas, the rooms each have a flatscreen tv, free toiletries and a hairdryer. The hotel has a sea view, free private parking spaces and it’s the highest rated location in Brufut. Fun detail: in this hotel they serve a continental breakfast every morning, but in the evening you can go to their own restaurant and try the local dishes and trust me, you’ll want to try this!

Ngala Lodge: This hotel is small, classy and yet again is surrounded by a tropical garden with beautiful birds. Ngala Lodge is one of my favourite hotels in Gambia! This hotel is perfect to relax in, there are no children, it has a lovely private beach and it’s situated on top of a cliff from where you can enjoy the amazing view. Feel like working out? You can head out to the golf course next to the hotel or swim laps in the pool while the sun sets. Or do you feel like exploring? You can go to Cape Point, which is around 3 km away from the hotel.
Ngala Lodge is located in an old colonial mansion with African elements and throughout the entire hotel you’ll see the artwork, even at the edges of the pool! I stayed here in a lovely big suite and a fun fact is that all the suites in the hotel are interiored by different designers and so all the rooms are unique. Are you in need of some me-time and some relaxing then the Ngala Lodge is the perfect stay during a beach vavation in Gambia if you ask me. It’s located around 26 km from the Banjul airport.

White Horse Residence: Do you love taking a massage every day while on vacation? If yes, the White Horse Residence in Tanji might be the perfect fir for you. It’s a spa with a wellness centre and it has its own private beach. You can be sure to relax here. Want to go out? You can rent free bikes! Around in the area you can engage in several watersport activities, like fishing and canoeing for instance. If you want to book a hotel around Tanji this hotel is the best rated one!

Kombo Beach: This is without a doubt one of the most popular hotels in Gambia, located by the beach, surrounded by a tropical garden and close to the centre of Kotu. Perfect for a relaxing holiday! Good to know: this hotel has the renowned sustainability mark the Travelife Gold, which means they do well when it comes to the use of water and energy, recycling, the treament of employees, use regional products and are activally involved with the locals. If you feel like going out not only is the centre of Kotu closeby, there are also lots of stores and restaurants in walking distance from Kombo Beach. Fun fact: the owner is Dutch. The Banjul airport is about a 20 minute drive.

Hibiscus House Gambia: this is one of the hotels in Gambia where you get that authentic African feel because of the beautiful colours, the decoration and the small cabins where you’ll stay in. The hotel is a 10 minute walk away from the beach, but also has an outside pool, it’s a 10 minute drive from Bijilo, 20 minutes from Serrekunda and the Banjul airport is about 25 km away. In the restaurant that belongs to the hotel they mainly serve local dishes, so there are enough of possibilities to taste the Gambian cuisine. Funny detail: the suites have names like the Coconut Suite and the Avocado Suite.

Djembe Beach Resort: This is a resort where you can enjoy the sun on a different spot every moment of the day. By the beach, the pool, the other pool, or perhaps while you’re trying out the local cuisine on the terrace. Djembe Beach Resort is located around 14 km away from the airport and 1,2 km from the Bijilo Monkey Park. Feel like working out? You can play tennis here, ride a bike or swim some laps in one of the pools. Tip: The hotel is practically situated next to Poco Loco, the place to grab a bite in the evening. have a drink and to dance!
