Amsterdam Weekend Guide for July 25, 26 and 27!

Weekends are the best! And there’s so much to do in Amsterdam :-). I took the train to Rijsel this weekend, it’s said to be the Paris of the North… I’ll tell you all about it on the blog soon! By the way… Did you see the latest Hotspot & Lifestyle update yet? New format!

Every Friday I’m a guest on Amsterdam FM where I share my favourite things to do in the Amsterdam Weekend Guide. Have a great weekend everyone!

– New on the Wibautstraat: Stek! For breakfast, lunch and afternoon drinks.

– Friday after work drinks… Always a good idea! This summer there are pop-up terraces to drink a Disaronno sour all over Amsterdam and you’re invited. More info here.

Betty Blue is a cool new pastry store in the city center which is all about sweet stuff. Yum!

Lite / Dark has a new location at the Zeedijk! With delicious gazpacho, raw cheesecake, quiche and ice cream. Read the full blog here!

– Have you been to Canvas op de 7e for dinner yet? Great view over Amsterdam and affordable food. We like! Check the blog here.

– Italian food and gluten free proof, that’s cool looking Bocconi at the Spaarndammerstraat.

– Foodies can eat their heart out this weekend at one of the food markets on Sunday! There’s the Neighbourfood & flea at Westerpark and the Sunday market at Park Frankendael in Amsterdam East.

– Have you been to the pop-up shop of Ace & Tate at Hôtel Droog yet? You can try on all the frames of this cool eyewear brand that’s usually only available online. Read all about the pop-up here.

– Not new, but newly discovered by me ;-). Cosmania at the Herenstraat for beautiful beauty brands. Check out the blog to win Cowshed products.

– At the Thuyskamer all products are for sale. And the good news is that everything is made from re-used materials. Great concept.

– Gekaapt at the Kinkerstraat is the latest pop-up by the guys from the Jan Eef.

– Drie of my favourite vintage shops in Amsterdam:
* Tatski & Kar at Koningsstraat 27a.
* Libertine is a gallery slash store for vintage curiosities at the Prinsengracht.
Kaufhaus is a cool vintage clothing and furniture store at the Sweelinckstraat 21 in Amsterdam.

– The most bohemian event on Sunday July 27 in Amsterdam is the Modernehippies.nl get together at Roest. Always love their events! Check the event page here.

– Only this weekend the Dappermarkt is open on Sunday for the Amsterdam year market. Check it out here.

– Art lovers alert! From July 25-27 there’s Art Square Amsterdam art exhibit at Museumplein.

– Are you going on a date soon? Why not check out one of the summer sessions at North Sea Jazzclub in Amsterdam West?

– Live concerts at the Amsterdamse Bos. All summer long at the open air theater in the forest! Yay :-).

– Every summer one of my fav things to do! The ZOOmer avonden at Artis.

– New expo at the Stadsarchief. Vintage Amsterdam photos by legend Ed van er Elsken. Until September 14.

– Floor 17 does Rooftop Movie Nights! Imagine watching a movie at 85 meters high. Tickets include popcorn and a drink. Make sure to check the schedule if there’s a movie playing this weekend.

– The Vondelpark Openluchttheater (open air theater) is back in business every Sunday! Check the website for the latest artists.

– Have you been to the new theater show about the diaries of Anne Frank yet? Beautiful stage and great to see the story at Theater Amsterdam (Dutch speaking).

– Get your cultural fix at the new pop-up at Felix Meritis! Felix & Foam is a cooperation of Foam, Frame and pop-up restaurant Foyer. Open for 6 months! Read the blog about Felix & Foam here.
BUTTON WEEKENDGUIDE MUSEUM

– If you like photography check out the new expo at the Tropenmuseum: Masters of Photography with the best pictures from National Geographic photographers. Until October 19.

– Two new expositions in photo museum FOAM:
* Larry Clark – Tulsa & Teenage Lust – until September 12
* Don’t Stop Now: Fashion Photography Next – until September 7

– NEW photo expo at Felix and Foam! 5 years of talent is all about the young photography talents from The Netherlands. Until September 30.

– Did you know that the Van Gogh Museum is open till late every Friday? To me it feels very NY where the Guggenheim museum hosts cool parties during the weekend nights.

Festival update: Edelwise (Saturday), Damaris (Sunday), Vondeldisco (Saturday), Klamme handjes (Saturday), Vunzige Deuntjes (Sunday).

– My favourite clubs in Amsterdam for techno: Studio 80, CanvasClub Trouw.

Club Odeon has a cool new club night on Friday: Nachtdieren!

– A bit older crowd, great tunes and good vibe: Disco Dolly.

My long list of hotspots that I’ve been to recently or that are top of my mind!

– New pizza studio in town! Pistache is the new restaurant concept at the location where the Lobster House used to be.

– Officially open: brasserie style restaurant Nacional by Casper Reinders. Read our full report here!

– Porter Bar & Kitchen is the newest hotspot in Amsterdam Old South. From lunch to dinner!

– Salad bar SLA opened a 3rd location in Amsterdam. SLA Zuidas serves you lunch and breakfast during business hours. Yay!

– Rooftop bar and restaurant Canvas opened the doors again last week! Beautiful view over Amsterdam East and delicious dishes.

– New summer hotspot in Amsterdam North! Cafe De Ceuvel is crowd funded. How cool! Another great summer spot in Amsterdam North is De Tolhuistuin.

– Some of my fav restaurants I always go back to: Rijsel, De LuwteAan de Amstel and Wilde Zwijnen.
