Oh my god, it’s already the start of the first weekend of June! I just can’t believe how fast time flies by. The past few months I’ve been quite busy with travelling, but also with writing. Because my two (!) books are coming! Next week the moment is fi-nal-ly there: then The Amsterdam City Guide and Wanderlust will be in stores. YES! Can’t you – just like me – not wait any longer? You can pre-order here. But first thing first: the weekend is about to start! And as always, also this time filled with fun stuff. – We had to wait for  a while, but now the second location of Happyhappyjoyjoy is open! In Amsterdam-East, where first Mercat was. Of course you go here for the colourful, cool interior, but also for the asian streetfood. Ánd, a big plus, the garden is transformed into a wonderful terrace!

– And also The Chippy on the Kinkerstraat has opened its doors. Does this mean the Kinkerstraat is about to undergo a transformation? Well, with this spot it seems like it. Because here you go for the classic fish & chips, but also for cocktails and good music!

– Are you in the neighbourhood of Central Station this weekend? Make sure you make your pitstop at the Salsa Shop, because they just opened at the station. And yes indeed, it’s one of my favourite take-outs ;-)

– Of course the real foodies have already saved the date a while ago for Amsterdam Kookt Oosterpark. And this is going to be a good one. Here you’ll find not just delicious food and drinks, but also a completely new Oosterpark. And did you know that Hotel Arena has its very own pop-up restaurant here?

– All the foodies can also go to Taste of Amsterdam this weekend. This is already the 8th edition of the tastefully food festival. It’s like one big tasting with a lot of drinks & good music ;-)

– Saturday and Sunday it’s also time for another festival: Amsterdam Open Air! This means that the Gaasperpark is transformed into a musical fun paradise with good beats, fine people and lots of craziness. Tickets are still available!

– Sunday from 16:00 hrs Roest is ready for you with the best burgers straight from the grill during Filament’s flippin b-sides & burgers x Roest. While Filament is playing some nice beats, you can survive your hangover or chase the kids in the sand.

– This weekend the Red Light District is taken over by the best jazz tunes. During Red Light Jazz Festival you can visit unique and intimate locations spread all over the red light district and enjoy the performances of known and unknown jazz artists :-)

– Want to boost your cultural experience? Then you can go to the RAI for the KunstRAI. More than 70 galleries show their very best. And do you love Berlin art? Then this is your thing, because this years theme is Berlin Focus.

– Something completely different and therefor even better: Macrame & Mimosa’s x The Hox. Here the cool Craft Citizens teach you all you need to know about how to do macrame. And of course you’ll get some fresh made mimosa’s with that. After that a boozy brunch and you’ll have your perfect Sunday!

– If the weather treats us right, you can spend all day outside at Dok. There is Click At The Beach x Karotte All Day Long. Good food, drinks and dancing on the nice beats of electronic music, along the water in the open air sounds pretty good right?

– Want to start your new work week fresh and smooth? Take a dip in one of the hot tubs on the rooftop of the Volkshotel during Badplaats Summer Sessions w/Mabassa. Jameson Irish Whiskey supplies the drinks and Mabassa the music. Yay!

– I love the Tropenmuseum and it’s always an inspiring place to visit. Especially the exposition Rhythm & Roots is worth the effort. Here you travel via various music styles around the world. Super fascinating and it makes you forget everything around you for a while. Until October 30!

– You can not let an exposition of Jimmy Nelson pass, right? Make sure you’ll see the best pictures – including never-before-seen images – of Jimmy in the Rademakers Gallery. The exposition is there till June 19!

– Another must see exposition: the one of The Rolling Stones in the Eduard Planting Gallery. Until July 9 you can go here for the exposition ‘Breaking Stones 1963-1965: A Band on the Brink of Superstardom‘.

– Until June 27 you can go to the art gallery of Vroom & Varossieau for the colourful artworks of Brazilian street artist Cranio. The exposition, Amazonian Diet, exists of paintings, drawings and toys with a critical wink to the life of the 21st century.

– Always wanted to travel through time? It’s possible now with the 100 artworks of Made in Amsterdam. Here you are taken through various movements, artists and movements through Amsterdam over the past 100 years. The exhibition runs until July 31!

– The Jewish Historical Museum still honours the legendary Amy Winehouse. During the Amy Winehouse: A Family Portrait you’ll get a glimpse in the private live of the deceased star. This intimate and personal exposition was put together by Amy’s brother Alex Winehouse. You can visit this expo until September 4.

– It’s the very very last weekend of Tassenmuseum Hendrikje: Street Couture. Haven’t you seen this exhibition about high end fashion in combination with street fashion, sport and pop culture yet? Get your ass over there!

– The most beautiful, awful and intense photos are still shown in the Nieuwe Kerk. Here you can visit the World Press Photo 16 until July 10. During this exposition, you can admire the impressive photography of many price winning (press) photographers.

– Have you already visited the youngest brother of the Amsterdam museums? Moco Museum has just opened and to celebrate its birth there’s a exposition about modern contemporary art. Until July 3 you can admire the artworks of Andy Warhol and until September 4 the works of Banksy. A win-win, right?

– This one’s actually a must for anybody living in Amsterdam: Wonen in de Amsterdamse School in the Stedelijk Museum. Here you learn all about this expressive movement via 500 different interior designs until August 28. After this you’ll know your city even better!

– Another last chance. This weekend it’s also the last weekend of Shelter Island in Foam. The classic, sophisticated photography of Roe Ethridge is shown here, which shows the end of a nostalgic summer holiday. A must!

– Remember those crazy nights at Chapter during FIssa? Well, for this weekend only those nights are back! Because Fissa is Eindelijk Terug is in the Marktkantine this Friday!

– Want to go wild this Friday? Our tip: Zwarte Koffie Paradiso is back! Good or bad weather, in Paradiso it’s summer tonight!

– Do you need some more hiphop in your life? Well, Roest is about to give you a boost during A Tribe Called Roest this Saturday. And it’s about to go down, because thanks to the many attendees the partay has moved to the warehouse!

– Feel like dancing but not in the mood for clubbing? On Saturday Pllek is thé place to be! DJs wil play some of the best records at dinner time and late into the night. After dinner the tables will be set aside so you can dance! See you at Beatroots!
