5 x things to do in Istanbul

10 June 2015

In istanbul for the weekend? hereby 5 things to do in istanbul!

Ever since I went to Istanbul with  Corendon, this amazing city is on my favourite-city-list. So many cool hotspots here where you can have dinner, drink some cocktails or have a cup of coffee. But, Istanbul also has many nice sight seeings worth a visit. I’ve selected 5 things to do in Istanbul. And yes: this list might be a bit cheesy. But believe me: these are must visits. Enjoy!

Blue Mosque >>> Things to do in Istanbul

The Blue Mosque (also known as the Sultan Ahmet Mosque) is a stunning appearance in Istanbul. A real tourist attraction though. And yet worth a visit when you are in Istanbul! The mosque is located in the district Sirkenci where you can get a delicious cup of coffee at Coffeetopia. Try to visit the mosque on a summer evening; you can then see a great light show here.

Delicatessen Istanbul

TURKISH DELICACIES >>> Things to do in Istanbul

When I asked friend M. (who knows Istanbul very well) where to go in Istanbul, she told about two classics in the field of delicacies.Güllüoğlu for the best baklava in town – and although I do not really have a sweet tooth, I of course had to taste ;-) And Namli Gurme where you go for delicious Mediterranean snacks. And nice, this shop is located next to the water. So buy your goodies and eat them in the sun overlooking the Bosphorus.

Hammam >>> things to do in Istanbul

After a few days strolling in town you’ve earned some relaxation. Don’t you think so? In Istanbul you can relax in one of the many hammams of the city. Book a massage and enjoy a day of soaking here! Tip: it’s sunny Istanbul? Then book a scrub treatment at the start of your holiday. So you are sure that you can tan nicely this holiday!

Bazaar >>> things to do in Istanbul

A visit to the Bazaar can not miss on your list with things to do when you are in Istanbul. The most famous and largest Bazaar is the Grand Bazaar. But the smaller Egyptian Bazaar is also worth a visit. All those spices, teas, sweets, Turkish lamps, jewellery. You won’t know where to look. Try to go early in the morning when it’s still quiet (and bring an extra suitcase for all the nice stuff you’re going to buy here!)

Sailing on the Bosporus >>> things to do in Istanbul

Find a sunny day and go sailing on the Bosporus for a few hours! It’ll show you how big Istanbul really is. First you sail along the European coast and you’ll pass the Galatasaray Island. With very luxury hotspots. The way back you sail along the Asian coast. Again you will see huge houses. Nice to see Istanbul from the water instead of from the country!
